GP Emergency Vet Nurse

Key Responsibilities

As a GP/Emergency Vet Nurse, your primary responsibilities will involve providing exceptional care to critically ill or injured animals. This includes:

• Providing Nursing Care: You will monitor vital signs, administer treatments, and assist in emergency procedures and surgeries.
• Emergency Support: Assisting with diagnostics and critical care, ensuring pets receive the care they need when it matters most.
• Medication Administration: Administer medications and ensure accurate record-keeping to track the pets’ progress.
• Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with both the veterinary team and pet owners to ensure the highest level of care.

Our Ideal Candidate

We are looking for candidates who are compassionate, skilled, and ready to handle the fast-paced nature of emergency and critical care. The ideal candidate will have:

• A Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent)
• At least 2+ years of experience in a busy GP clinic or emergency care environment
• Strong technical skills, including IV catheter placement, blood sampling, and anesthesia monitoring
• Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure
• Excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for animal care
• Willingness to work on a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
